About Alcaidesa

Alcaidesa is a beautiful village built on hillsides and valleys between Sotogrande and Santa Margarita/ La Linea. It has a natural bay with a lighthouse and you can walk along the beach for literally miles.

What makes Alcaidesa unusual is that it is not only a fabulous place to have a holiday but also many people who work in Gibraltar chose to live in Alcaidesa for its tranquility and space.

The main square in Alcaidesa benefits from a bar/ restaurant called the Dragonfly, there is a boutique hotel called the Quercus and a gourmet restaurant overlooking the beach called La Vista. Soon (we have been waiting for some time!) the new commercial centre will be finished and we are all expecting more commercial activities as a result.

In the summer we have a beach restaurant and also a beach bar.

If you want to do more than just relax and enoy yourself then Alcaidesa is a great base from which to see local sites. By car you can reach everything from ancient Roman remains, windsurfing, Jerez sherry tours, Marbella, white villages and many more things. Morroco is only a short ferry ride away.

For golfers there are 2 courses. One is “links” and the other “heathland”. Some of the views from the course are just magical. There are many other golf courses near-by. E.g. Valderama, Sotogrande and the municipal couse La Canada in Pueblo Nuevo.

If you are travelling by plane then Gibraltar airport is the closest but Malaga and Jerez aren’t much more than an hour away.

If you want to look at the weather then we have a page on the blue bar dedicated to this.
